Meditation is an effective way for everyone to relieve stress, find inner peace, and promote good health. You can choose between a guided and non-guided meditation. Broadly speaking, guided meditation can help you meditate by listening to instructions from a speaker or teacher. These can be in the form of a mantra, chant, guided imagery, and or rhythmic music such as binaural beats.
A mantra is a chanted word or phrase or a symbol visualized in the mind which is repeated over and over during meditation. The word mantra has two parts: man, which is the root of the Sanskrit word for mind; and tra, which is the root of the word instrument. Binaural beats are auditory tones designed to put your brain into a meditative state. Traditional meditation can be very difficult because it’s difficult to hold the mind’s focus. Theta would be a day dream state and it comes right before delta which is a deep sleep. Some research suggests that theta may be the time when creative people receive some of their important inspirations. Like alpha, theta also appears in the brain-wave tracings of meditating persons, but usually only in very experienced meditators and following a previous period of alpha.
